The Cape and The Islands A-List Contest Rules
- Any business owner* within the Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket areas may request to list themselves in a specific category in which their business legitimately provides services or specialization within a physical storefront. Exceptions include wedding-specific businesses. All requests and nominations are reviewed, and categories are evaluated on a regular basis. Additional categories may be added during the contest based on demand.
- NECN retains the editorial right to remove any business that has entered a contest incorrectly or has used marketing materials and language that is not in line with the spirit of the contest (see Terms and Conditions).
- Businesses may use any official promotional materials provided on http://mycapeguide.com/ to promote their involvement in the 2009 contest. These resources are provided free of charge to all contestants. NECN reserves the right to remove any business that manipulates these materials or uses unsanctioned promotional materials from the contest.
- Voters can only vote once in each category. Businesses are encouraged to invite their customers to vote online, but any business that attempts to manipulate voting results in any way will be removed from the contest. Our technology closely monitors voting behavior, and will remove questionable votes from the system.
- We do not support businesses entering email addresses for customers and asking them to confirm the vote. The goal of the contest and guide is to connect local business and consumers online and to help increase visibility for listed businesses. By inviting people to the site to browse, vote, and post comments, we are creating the premier destination for local content. Entering someone's email address on their behalf is not supported.
- Throughout the contest, The Cape and The Islands A-List contest will display the businesses that are leading the voting at that moment. These results will change with each vote and are not intended, nor are they permitted, to be reproduced, printed, or displayed anywhere outside of the official contest site. Any business that uses this data without the expressed written consent of NECN will be removed from the contest. This information is the property of NECN. It is illegal, for any party, press or otherwise, that uses this data without the expressed written consent of NECN.
*Businesses which are part of a national chain or a franchise will be provided with only one listing per guide on The Cape and The Islands A-List.
